Frankston Private Hospital (FPH) is one of Healthscope’s leading hospitals. FPH is located in Melbourne’s South East and opened in 2017 after the amalgamation of two existing businesses, Frankston Private Day Surgery and the Peninsula Oncology Centre.

FPH offers perioperative services for a broad range of surgeries and an infusion and oncology centre. They’re one of the busiest endoscopy and oncology centres in the Peninsula area. The hospital also has a conference centre available to community groups and conference event bookings.

The consulting rooms at FPH are used by the ear nose and throat surgeon, gynecology surgeon and for tattoo removal services.

FPH required the existing consulting rooms to be completely renovated and refreshed. The rooms were in such a run-down state and could no longer be used due to the uninhabitable environment. A strict renovation timeframe was set by FPH to mitigate loss of income for the business.

Healthscope contracted Baxter Projects (Baxter) with the complete fit-out upgrade, from initial design through to project handover. This included room design and layout, architect engagement, demolition, construction, electrical works and joinery finishes.

Internal demolition of the existing rooms was required at the first stage of the project, so Baxter involved a structural engineer to assist in rebuilding the internal structures. As construction progressed, Baxter made sure every detail of the job was checked thoroughly to identify any defects, fixing them immediately, to help keep construction time down.

As the consulting rooms were in a separate building to the main hospital area, this gave Baxter the flexibility to streamline the programme of works and ensure FPH’s timeline was met. The Baxter team worked particularly efficiently in an interference-free environment, including weekend work, so FPH could move its doctors in earlier than anticipated.

Throughout the project, Baxter always remained in close communication with FPH to ensure they were happy with every single detail. This allowed Baxter to bring FPH’s vision to life, even with the smallest of details.

A newly renovated wing of contemporary consulting rooms for doctors and patients to enjoy alike. The project was handed over ahead of schedule and completely defect free.

“Baxter Projects were extremely efficient and precise throughout the whole project, delivering ahead of our timeframe. This allowed us to minimise impact on the bottom line and bring doctors in quicker. They were always open in their communication and didn’t hesitate to ask questions to get the job done”.
